Creatine Gummies vs Creatine Chews: Not the Same Thing
They look like the same category. Water content separates them, and water is what destroys creatine.

Creatine chews and creatine gummies get shelved together and treated as interchangeable. They aren't, and the difference matters for the one thing that determines whether either works.
The variable that separates them
Water activity — the measure of chemically available water in a product.
Creatine converts to inert creatinine in the presence of water, accelerated by acidity and heat. Less available water means slower degradation. See why creatine degrades in water.
A gummy is a hydrocolloid gel. Water is structural — it's part of what makes the pectin network hold together and what gives the product its texture. It cannot be removed without ceasing to be a gummy.
A chew or tablet is compressed powder with binders. Water content is low by design, closer to a tablet than to confectionery.
That single difference cascades into everything else.

Why chews are chalky
The honest trade-off in the other direction.
Creatine monohydrate has a distinctly chalky, faintly bitter character. In a gummy, a high-moisture sweetened gel matrix does a lot of the masking work — flavour compounds distribute well and the texture carries them.
In a compressed chew there's much less to hide behind. You're eating compacted powder, and the creatine's own texture comes through. Sugar-free formulations make it harder still, since sugar is an effective masking agent.
That's why many creatine chews are unpleasant — which defeats the purpose of choosing a chewable in the first place. If the point of the format is that you'll actually take it daily, a product you dread isn't solving the problem.
The naming problem
Here's the practically useful part: the words on the front don't reliably tell you which you're holding.
Some products marketed as "chews" are gel-based and functionally gummies. Some marketed as "gummies" are lower-moisture chewable tablets.
Read the non-medicinal ingredients instead:
Signs of a gel-based product (gummy chemistry): water, glycerin, pectin, gelatin, agar, carrageenan.
Signs of a compressed product: microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, dicalcium phosphate.

What this means for buying
If stability were the only criterion, a compressed chew would beat a gummy and both would lose to powder.
Stability isn't the only criterion, because a product's effect depends on being taken consistently for months. Palatability drives that, and gel-based gummies are considerably more palatable than compressed chews.
So the honest framing:
- Powder — most stable, cheapest, most friction
- Compressed chews — good stability, often poor taste
- Gummies — best palatability, weakest inherent stability, requires the manufacturer to actively manage it

The question that resolves it
Whichever format you're considering, ask for a certificate of analysis showing creatine content in finished product, tested near end of shelf life, with creatinine also quantified.
